Municipal Grants

The Township of Muskoka Lakes recognizes the valued contributions being provided through the volunteer efforts of community organizations and agencies on behalf of the citizens. Municipal donations demonstrate Council’s commitment to working with groups which provide these beneficial programs, services or projects to the community while at the same time recognizing the financial constraints impacting the Township’s ability to provide funding to these groups.

The Township of Muskoka Lakes Grants Committee has recently adopted the attached guidelines for grants to community organizations.

Every year the Township receives more donation/grant requests than it can fund. The objective of these guidelines is to treat all organizations fairly and consistently.  Past funding commitments should not be interpreted as a guarantee that future requests will be approved.

Grants/Donations are intended to provide modest levels of support and assistance to community non-profit organizations.

Each year, as part of its annual budget process, Council will determine the amount of funding to be provided for all municipal grants/donations.  The Grants Committee reviews requests and makes recommendations to Council. Council retains the right to make the final decision on both the overall funding allocation and the individual grant/donation.

The guidelines establish eligibility requirements, identify the types of funding available and outline the application process.  An annual application with supporting documentation will need to be filed by the end of November so that all requests can be reviewed and included as part of the following years’ preliminary budget. As this is the initial year of this process, applications will be due by November 30th for the 2018 budget.  Preference will be given to organizations that demonstrate community support, efficient use of resources, sound business practices and develop volunteer knowledge, skills and self-reliance.

Please note that requests must be submitted on the forms provided and must be received by November 30th in order to be considered for funding.

Attached to this package is a listing of other funding/grant programs that may be of interest to your organization.
